“Power to Inspire”
As a global BPO services provider with operations across four continents, we believe that we have a responsibility to enrich the communities where we live and work. We do this by building sustainable corporate community partnership programs strategically aligned with our key businesses, leveraging on our expertise and available resources. The theme of our CSR program is “youth welfare and education” as we believe that the youth are the next caretakers of our future. A key differentiating factor on how we execute our programs is the strong sense of ownership and the empowerment of our employees to design and implement their CSR projects. Our employees have a personal stake to sustain their adopted program in the long-term.
Global CSR Day
In October 2011, SPi Global set an ambitious goal of generating 15,000 employee volunteer hours by holding simultaneous CSR programs within 24 hours across the company’s 16 global locations. With the theme “Power to Inspire”, the company’s first global CSR Day was held on March 10, 2012. It was a proud day for the company and for our CSR champion, president and CEO Maulik Parekh, who strongly believes that “great companies are defined by not only how they enhance their financials but also how they enhance and strengthen the communities they operate in.”
Because of the enthusiasm of the volunteers and their belief that they are doing something good for their communities, the company surpassed the 15,000 volunteer hour target and tallied 20,230 volunteer hours. This feat was further eclipsed during the company’s 2nd CSR Day on March 2, 2013. Another ambitious goal was set: 25,000 volunteer hours. Again, the volunteers made a supreme effort to reach out to the least fortunate in their communities. And they accumulated 38,990 volunteer hours.
Indeed, the CSR Day is the company’s time to give back, and share and showcase the unique value of “malasakit”, a Filipino word which means genuine care and concern.
SPi Global’s CSR Day achieved the following milestones:
SPi Global also supports Gawad Kalinga (“to give care”).
With Springer Science + Business Media and Post NL, SPi Global is currently supporting 100 families in building new homes for the underprivileged families in the Philippines. Gawad Kalinga has seen remarkable success in transforming Filipino slums through the “sweat equity” of its many volunteers. SPi Global clients and employee volunteers work with the families to rehabilitate poverty-stricken communities.
Helping Kids Clinic
Recently, SPi Healthcare also supported Helping Kids Clinic, a non-profit pediatric medical clinic in Las Vegas providing free healthcare for children from birth to 18 years.
During the recent ANI, the healthcare conference of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), SPi Healthcare donated $1 to the Healing Kids Clinic for each visitor to its booth. The company also matched the overall amount raised from the draws. This is part of the company’s mission to provide healthcare to children in need.
