Corporate Social Responsibility

“Power to Inspire”

As a global BPO services provider with operations across four continents, we believe that we have a responsibility to enrich the communities where we live and work. We do this by building sustainable corporate community partnership programs strategically aligned with our key businesses, leveraging on our expertise and available resources. The theme of our CSR program is “youth welfare and education” as we believe that the youth are the next caretakers of our future. A key differentiating factor on how we execute our programs is the strong sense of ownership and the empowerment of our employees to design and implement their CSR projects. Our employees have a personal stake to sustain their adopted program in the long-term.

Global CSR Day

In October 2011, SPi Global set an ambitious goal of generating 15,000 employee volunteer hours by holding simultaneous CSR programs within 24 hours across the company’s 16 global locations. With the theme “Power to Inspire”, the company’s first global CSR Day was held on March 10, 2012. It was a proud day for the company and for our CSR champion, president and CEO Maulik Parekh, who strongly believes that “great companies are defined by not only how they enhance their financials but also how they enhance and strengthen the communities they operate in. The CSR Day was the company’s time to give back and share and showcase the unique value of “malasakit”, a Filipino word which means genuine care and concern.

SPi Global’s CSR Day achieved the following milestones:

  • Exceeded the initial target of 15,000 hours and clocked a total of 20,230 volunteer hours in 24 hours across 16 global sites
  • Benefited 8,100 children worldwide through 23 outreach projects that involved public school rehabilitation and repairs, literacy classes, computer training, leadership training, establishment of computer centers and mini libraries, arts and sports activities, and feeding programs.
  • Our beneficiaries included selected communities in the Philippines, Vietnam, India, and the United States. These communities include public schools, orphanages, street children, children’s hospitals and nursery centers.

Gawad Kalinga

SPi Global also supports Gawad Kalinga (“to give care”).

With Springer Science + Business Media and Post NL, SPi Global is currently supporting 100 families in building new homes for the underprivileged families in the Philippines. Gawad Kalinga has seen remarkable success in transforming Filipino slums through the “sweat equity” of its many volunteers. SPi Global clients and employee volunteers work with the families to rehabilitate poverty-stricken communities.
