Maulik Parekh is the President and CEO of SPi Global, a leading Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) service provider with more than 18,000 employees in 30 facilities in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
Maulik joined SPi Global in late 2009 after several years of a flourishing career with other BPO companies and BPO client companies. Just two years into the job heading SPi Global, already the world’s largest Filipino-owned BPO company, Maulik has successfully integrated PLDT’s BPO businesses under one umbrella, assembled a strong leadership team that operates three distinct business units with one corporate support group, jumpstarted the growth of the combined entity, and set a bold target of growing the company to double its size in the next three years.
Maulik also steered the company toward becoming the “BPO Company of the Year” in the 2011 International ICT Awards. Recently, he was also recognized as the Philippines’ 2011 Expatriate Executive of the Year during the Asia CEO Awards, a prestigious event organized by some of Asia’s leading business people. The award recognizes non-Filipino citizens who have led their organizations in achieving measurable success and in making a strong contribution to the economic development of the Philippines.
Prior to joining SPi Global, Maulik was Executive Vice President of Asia Operations for TeleTech Holdings, where he orchestrated an ambitious growth strategy that grew the company's Asian presence from 6,000 employees to over 22,000 employees across 14 sites.
Before his stint at TeleTech, Maulik was with Dish Network, a leading satellite TV provider in the USA, where he initiated the company's offshoring strategy in India and the Philippines, led the Direct Sales division, and managed an operational team of more than 4,000 employees.
Maulik has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Gujarat University, India and an International MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, USA.
Maria Cecilia “Marie” Ampeloquio directs and oversees the human resources programs across SPi Global's sites in the US, Europe, Australia, India, Vietnam, and the Philippines. She has a 24-year track record in the BPO industry. Most recently, she served as Vice President – Human Resources of a multinational BPO company, where she established HR Best Practices as Common Minimum Practice, resulting in a robust service delivery structure. She also led HR and Hiring Teams and introduced a Coaching and Counseling model that was accorded a global best practice award.
Marie's expertise lies in strategic organization planning and design, talent management, employee relations, and overall HR delivery.
Marie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at St. Scholastica’s College in Manila.
Patrick Santos is responsible for the overall strategy and management of SPi Global’s IT infrastructure.
Patrick is a seasoned senior technology executive with a wealth of international experience in managing and leading information technology groups and projects of marquee companies in the US belonging to the financial and insurance services space.
Prior to his appointment at SPi Global, he was the Chief Information Officer of Delos Insurance located in New York. Patrick also held critical positions such as Director for IT at Clarendon Insurance Group (New York), and Database Manager and later on as Worldwide System Operations Manager of Platt’s Standard & Poors (S&P) Financial Services Co. (NY).
Patrick has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science (with honors) from Long Island University (LIU), C.W. Post Campus in New York.
Ryan Laureano’s responsibilities cover legal affairs, corporate governance, facilities administration, travel desk, and global procurement. He has over seven years of legal experience that is highly relevant to the BPO business. He has previously served as Country Counsel for companies engaged in Offshoring and Outsourcing. Prior to being appointed as the head of the legal affairs department of SPi Global, Ryan served as the legal counsel of the CRM Business Unit.
In addition to overseeing the legal affairs of SPi Global, he likewise serves as the Corporate Governance Officer of the group.
Ryan completed his Juris Doctor degree from Ateneo De Manila University after obtaining his management degree from De La Salle University.
Celeste Ilagan has over 25 years of experience in resource management, strategic and operational planning, project development and implementation, marketing, networking and government relations. For 20 years, she has worked for the Board of Investments (BOI) where she assumed various roles and made significant contributions in the growth of outsourcing and offshoring business in the Philippines.
Prior to joining SPi Global, she led the Investments Promotion Group of BOI as Executive Director for four years. She paved the way for the development and implementation of the BOI’s investment promotion program that covers investment generation, investor servicing and image building. Her leadership has brought in major investment projects resulting from investment promotion missions in Europe, the United States, India, Singapore and Japan.
Celeste has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
As president and CEO of SPi Healthcare, John O’Donnell brings his 25 years of healthcare industry expertise and leadership from both a hospital and physician practice perspective, giving him a unique understanding of the financial pressures that face the healthcare community. His well-rounded expertise enables him to more effectively lead the company in aligning technology and operations to meet the needs of a healthcare organization.
With his in depth understanding of the financial challenges that face the industry, John is positioning SPi Healthcare in a strategic direction to offer their clients a more comprehensive solution. Under his guidance, SPi Healthcare has experienced over 20% growth.
John’s leadership in SPi Healthcare’s growth strategy and branding will continue to position the company to better meet the evolving needs of healthcare organizations.
John has been with the Company since 2004 (for SSC before it became SPi Healthcare). Prior to being appointed president, he joined the Company as the executive vice president of operations and was concurrently the chief information officer, where he was instrumental in coordinating operational and IT management staff to bring continuity and cooperation for key services offered to clients.
Previously, he headed the financial applications group for Palos Community Hospital and its immediate care centers. John was also a senior consultant with a healthcare consulting firm in Wheaton, Illinois.
John holds a bachelor of science in business, with a concentration in computer management from Eastern Illinois University.
Ratnadeep “Ratan” Datta is responsible for the overall performance and global operations of SPi Global's Content Solutions business unit, covering sales and business development, strategy and emerging technologies, and our educational vertical.
Ratan started in SPi Global as Operations Head and went on to lead technology for the Publishing Unit. He led the unit’s India Operations and was instrumental in making it one of the fastest growing units within SPi Global.
Prior to joining SPi Global, Ratan was a Software Consultant for a Content Syndication start-up, Blue Ripple Inc., in Cambridge, MA. He also has years of research experience as IT Manager for the French Institute of Pondicherry (FIP) where he built software solutions for research and led the development of database applications. During this time, he underwent training in Paris on Java technologies.
Ratan is an alumnus of the Indian Military Academy, Dehra Dun and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education, Pondicherry.
John P. Wheeler is a highly accomplished industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in e-learning, e-content creation, product development, and offshore utilization. He leads SPi Global’s Innovation Lab initiative and partners with our sales teams as solutions architect for expanding the company’s service offerings in its Content Solutions and Laserwords business units.
His strong technical and business qualifications are the result of his domestic and international hands-on experience in strategic planning, business development, project and product management, system engineering strategies and project implementation using onshore and offshore development models. He has combined a deep knowledge of programming and development with excellent management skills and business acumen to launch successful market-oriented products. John also holds a US patent and is an author and developer of award-winning e-learning/training products.
Prior to joining SPi Global, John was with HOV services where he was Vice President, Publishing and eContent. Prior to that, he was with Elsevier for more than six years as Director, Multimedia Production, where he was responsible for the production of all electronic products supporting Elsevier’s global publications.
John holds a degree in Philosophy, Minor in Social Psychology, from St. Louis University in the US.
Mike has over 20 years of experience in the Publishing Industry with extensive exposure in managing the sales and marketing departments for Educational Publishing Sales of Laserwords. In the last three years, Mike has been the company’s President, US Operations. He has also provided management and guidance to the global operations and the use of a hybrid model in online marketing payment between domestic and off-shore production in the US and India. Mike started with Laserwords in 2006, and has been responsible for much of the growth that Laserwords experienced in the Educational Publishing space in the last five years. Prior to joining Laserwords, Mike was the Vice President of Sales for Aptara, formerly Techbooks, for four years. Mike also helped build the Sales and Editorial Development teams of Aptara, and worked with Aptara/Techbooks for a total of seven years. Previously, he was also Vice President of Sales for Interactive Composition Corporation (ICC), specializing in Higher Education and Professional Publishing, for five years.
Mike has also served in publishing organizations, including the Chicago Book Clinic (CBC) and Bookbuilders West (BBW), where he has been a board member for over 10 years. Mike was President and Treasurer of BBW for a few terms, and Program Director of CBC.
Mike has a business degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. He also studied in Durham, England, for a semester.
Gregg is the Senior Vice President, Sales – Content Solutions of SPi Global, managing both the US and Europe Sales teams and streamlining sales-related initiatives across the Content Solutions business, primarily in the STM and Legal verticals.
He brings with him over 30 years of experience in sales and marketing, operations, business development, strategic account development and management, and resource management. His leadership has generated significant growth in corporate revenue from new and existing customers and strong management performance.
Gregg acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Arts with a Minor in Economics from Allegheny College and a Graduate Certificate in Direct Marketing from Merrimack College in the US.
Rommel leads the operations of SPi Global's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) business.
Rommel brings with him 12 years of experience in the BPO industry and six years in manufacturing. He has demonstrated his strength in leading strategic initiatives that involve process improvement, people development, client relationships, business delivery, and project implementation. He is also a quality champion, having been involved with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, QS9000, with a keen understanding of quality methodologies such as Six Sigma, TQM, and COPC.
Before joining SPi Global, Rommel was Head of Voice for the Hubs, ANZ Global Services. He was responsible for developing and running the Center of Excellence for all Voice/Call Center roles, first in the Manila Hub and eventually across all Hubs. Before Hubs ANZ Global Services, he was also President and CEO of WNS GS Philippines, where he was responsible for site delivery in terms of client performance and profitability. He managed overall site operations and was a member of the Board of Directors for the joint venture partnership with Paxsys. Prior to his stint at WNS, he was connected with Sykes Asia, Inc. as its Senior Director for Operations. He was instrumental in growing the business from 400 to over 9,000 people.
Rommel graduated with a bachelor's degree in Science in Industrial Management Engineering, minor in Chemical Engineering, from De La Salle University. He also has MBA units from the same school.
Scott is the Senior Vice President, Sales – CRM, managing the global sales and business development teams across the company’s CRM business.
He joined the company in November 2010, bringing with him an extensive experience in the BPO Call/Call Center business development, consultative sales, marketing, new product development, and new market strategy with Fortune 1000 companies. He co-founded Istonish, where he was responsible for the overall strategic direction of the company, including business development, marketing and strategic alliances.
Scott has a business degree from Colorado State University.
Aman Jeloka helps the executive team create and implement a strategic roadmap for SPi Global’s growth, coordinating M&A activities across existing business units as well as exploring new verticals for investment.
He has 16 years of global experience in banking, financial services and outsourcing. He recently co-founded and was Director of a niche marketing start-up company, and prior to that was the Global Head for Strategy at TELUS International, where he was responsible for revenue diversification, expanding the company’s international footprint, and setting up and growing the India business.
Before his stint at TELUS, he also served as VP, Corporate Strategy at WNS Global Services in India, as well as key positions at Capital One Bank and Deloitte Consulting in the US.
Aman is a CFA Charterholder - member of the CFA Institute in Richmond, Virginia, has an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calcutta in India.
