Since 2012, SPi Global has been conducting a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform which activates simultaneous CSR projects within 24 hours across all global offices. Its annual enterprise-wide outreach event CSR Day, kick-starts the company’s sustainable CSR initiatives for the year, with projects primarily geared towards youth welfare and education.
Recently, the company ramped up its efforts in advocating education across all its host communities. With the belief that IT is the future, the company has partnered with foundations, charities and non-government organizations to help build awareness on the benefits of information technology.
Ongoing programs by employees designed to groom future techies include curriculum development and training for students, and computer software skills improvement for teachers. Volunteers also support projects for the rehabilitation of computer laboratories to enhance learning environments and help build smart classrooms in schools in the grass-roots. Other initiatives involve projects that allow the less privileged access to IT resources, equipping them with basic and practical internet know-how, as well as values formation surrounding the ethical use of social media.
Promoting the spirit of volunteerism among employees, SPi Global’s CSR program has generated a total of 237,454.23 volunteer hours, improving the lives of more than 65,000 beneficiaries in different parts of the world.
SPi Global has co-sponsored the building of homes for underprivileged communities in the Philippines. To date, SPi and Springer Science + Business Media have turned over 50 houses and a three-storey multi-purpose hall – with day care and computer learning centers – in a community in Parañaque, Metro Manila. A separate community, with 48 houses and a community development center, was recently completed with TNT subsidiary Post NL Shore, in Gawad Kalinga’s Euro Village in Metro Manila.
